GREETINGS!
It has recently come to our attention that there has been an attempt to resurrect OSUNY by people who had nothing to do with the original system. While we are flattered that there is still interest in OSUNY nearly twenty years after its foundation, this latest "incarnation" can only be described as fraudulant.
Beyond its beginnings as a place for the Ohio Scientific Users of New York to discuss their quirky computer, Osuny BBS grew to near legendary status with mentions in Newsweek magazine and the book The Hacker Crackdown. Even today, bits and pieces of the original system can be found around the Internet, such as the infamous blue box plans which helped put OSUNY on the map, so to speak.
Far more than just a "hackers" bulletin board, OSUNY was the nexus which formed many life-long freindships. It was for those friends of the original system that osuny.com was created and for those who missed out on its heyday to experience what a rooms based BBS was all about.
The last true incarnation of the board has been down for several years now, and it's obvious from the apperance of an imitator that OSUNY was sorely missed. But be warned, this imposter bears only a vague resemblance to and has no connection with those who originally created and ran OSUNY for so many years.
Maybe someday Osuny BBS will return. If so, it will be here if it does.
